Silver Star

Bexley Women's Aid appeared in the July 2011 edition of the magazine SE Nine. In the Youth Philanthropy Initiative the students of Eltham Hill Technology College took part in an 'Apprentice'-style knock-out, to win £3,000 for their chosen charities.

Kerry Henley, BWA's Education & Prevention Officer was delighted to accept the cheque after the girls from Eltham Hill Technology College persuaded the judges that Bexley Women's Aid was a worthy cause for the winnings.

Text Giving

Bexley Women’s Aid will be amongst the first charities in the country to use its own, unique personalised text code, BXWA 25, to raise funds using JustTextGiving by Vodafone.

This is a brand new, free service for charities that has no set up or fundraising costs, no network charges for people making donations and every penny donated goes to charity.

From May 2011, supporters of Bexley Women’s Aid can make donations of up to £10 by texting BXWA 25 and either 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 or 10 to 70070 to make their donation. The text message is free and all of the donation will be passed to us!

This is a wonderful way for us to raise money as it’s speedy, simple and spontaneous.  Most people have a mobile phone these days so we hope this will be very popular with our supporters.

New items needed to complete our refurbishment!

Our properties have recently undergone a huge refurbishment program and we are looking for some new items to complete the look.

Each property has been fully repainted, has new carpet, sofas and table and chairs. All we need now is artwork for the walls, cushions and other lovely new things to make it feel more homely.

If you are a budding artist, someone who sews cushions, or an organisation that sells such items and would like to create something to donate to us, we will be extremely grateful.

Please contact Vanessa on 020 8301 1536 or vanessa@bexleywomensaid.org.uk to donate today!

Please note that due to our health and safety policy we are unable to accept used cushions, rugs or throws.

Bexley Women’s Aid is a registered charity that has been in the borough of Bexley for 35 years, providing support and refuge to women and children experiencing domestic abuse.

Our AGM will be an opportunity for you to hear some of our service users talk about their experiences, as well as gain knowledge and information on all services provided by Bexley Women’s Aid. We will also be presenting the recently introduced Freedom Programme, an initiative devised by Bexley’s Domestic Violence Forum.

We are delighted to showcase “Branded” a project from the students at Rose Bruford College, which raises awareness around the devastating effects of domestic abuse. The exhibition aims to draw attention to what is happening in our world today, which will both shock and surprise.

Light refreshments will be provided.

Christmas 2009

As Christmas is approaching our Children’s Service are organising a Christmas party for all of the children we have supported in the past year, including those living at the refuge and those in families we support in the community.

This year we would like to give each child a gift and provide entertainment, food and refreshments at the party. We are looking for items such as presents and gift vouchers for the children, raffle prizes, and money, which would help to cover the cost of the party.
Bexley Women’s Aid work hard to restore the lives of many women and children affected by domestic abuse and time of year can be a very difficult one for children and families rebuilding their lives.
We are extremely grateful for your continued support.

Give with The Mall's Giving Tree!

The Mall at Bexleyheath are inviting all their shoppers to buy an extra gift this year and help support 'The Giving Tree' appeal. Shoppers are invited to buy a present and then hand it into staff at The Mall's Ask Me Point, who will make sure it is wrapped and delivered by Christmas Eve. We are delighted that The Mall are supporting us and all of the gifts received this year will be donated to Bexley Women's Aid for all the families we support in the community and at the refuge.
